Killing me softly with their edited for content

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

7:45 PM
Worst editing job ever. Lifetime has completely castrated Heathers. I truly hope not many people are popping their Heathers cherry by watching this atrocity.

7:46 PM
30th (approx.) favorite line from Heathers:
"Veronica, JD told me that you killed yourself last night." - High School Guidance Counselor

7:48 PM
Supper - popcorn.
Listening to - dishwasher and Lifetime commercials.
Day overall - stressful, but not as stressful as my friend in Omaha's day.
Highlights of the day - coffee with Hope, lunch with BigMac and early bus ride home.

7:52 PM
"W-E-S-T-E-R-B-E-R-G!" It's officially the pep rally scene in Heathers.

7:55 PM
"The only place where different social types can genuinely get along is heaven," JD (Christian Slater).

7:57 PM
I still love Heathers. Even after this train wreck of an experience.

8:04 PM
Moment of unreality on Veronica Mars - names and faces of alleged sexual assault survivors have been shared with the campus community. Big no-no.

8:06 PM
Cameo by a former co-star of Daddy Mars' from Just Shoot Me.

8:14 PM
Stomach doesn't like me today. Apparently stress has a lead on my intestinal tract.

8:16 PM
"Nice shoes. Did you change your major to Women's Studies?" - Keith Mars

8:24 PM
Internal conflict - Do I continue watching Veronica Mars or do I start watching the PBS special on Sesame Street productions from around the world? (The CW won.)

8:30 PM
Bruised hands look like they hurt.

8:32 PM
Logan has a brother. I knew that the dude who plays Logan on Gilmore Girls was guest starring tonight, so not much of a shocker there.

8:42 PM
Does Logan have a brother?

8:47 PM
Logan's sharing too much with his surfing brother. This means no good.

8:49 PM
Pseudo brother is a writer for Vanity Fair. Veronica Mars has a definite anti-media agenda this season.

8:55 PM
Logan is showing emotions. This means that he and Veronica may soon be dunzo. I hope not. But I have a gut feeling. By the way, where's Wallace?

Today's sign of the apocolypse

Heathers will be shown on Lifetime tonight at 7PM EST/6PM CST.
5 Goals for the Week:
  1. Determine the best dates to travel within the next few months.
  2. Decrease the volume of stuff on my desk by at least 50%.
  3. Send greetings to SD via the US Postal Service.
  4. Finish cross-stitch project #4.
  5. De-dirt the apartment via various methods.

5 Things I've Learned Since Thursday

  1. Everyone should have a personal motto. Like "Indeed." or "Your silence is golden."
  2. Trying to eat Sunday brunch at The Cracker Barrel is like trying to find meaning in a Ben Stiller movie. So, we went to Frank's instead.
  3. Cooler weather makes me happy.
  4. Texas played a decent game against UNL on Saturday. I still think we should've won, but at least it was close. (2 points)
  5. The meaning of 'gunk.' Ask Petar. It's a fun story.

Long live rock & roll

I'm very pleased that Jeffrey won Project Runway last night. He is a great designer. Not a great role model, but a great designer.
5 Things I Did Yesterday
  1. Ate sushi with Monelle for lunch. Made me happy on a day full of clouds and rain and humidity and...you get the drift, I hope.
  2. Got semi-soaked by one of the many downpours that occurred in BR. Thank goodness for s. It kept me somewhat out of the precipitation. Not 100%, but trust me it would've been hard to stay that way for anyone out of doors during that time. For real.
  3. Supped with T. Ate too much at The Chimes. Followed by ColdStone. Gluttony is the new pink. Or something like that.
  4. Finished Son of a Witch. Great book. As usual with Maguire's books, I got somewhat confused by the timeline (he skips from past to present a lot), but I truly enjoyed learning more about Liir and his journey to becoming a son of a witch.
  5. Avoided doing house-hold chores, such as laundry and vaccuuming. Just didn't feel like it. Maybe tonight will be different. Slim chance. But you never can tell.

Return of the predictable plot twist

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

8:05 PM
"I'm a freshman, I just realized where Waldo is." - Veronica Mars on Veronica Mars

8:15 PM
If at first you don't succeed. Claw. Claw. Again. (Ivan's motto on how he will eventually 'escape' his cage.)

8:34 PM
"Can I get a copy of your book of brooding thoughts?" - Veronica
"Sorry. I only have the Cliffs Notes." - Logan

8:35 PM
Weevil's back! Happy dance!

8:44 PM
Tonight's supper: popcorn. Dad would be so proud.

9:04 PM
Let the nip/tuck texting commence. MoSus struck first, darn it.

9:08 PM
"I'll look like a mannequin at Lane Bryant," Rosie's character on nip/tuck.

9:19 PM
"I want to bond with my ear," Rosie again.

9:21 PM
Sean's being more selfish than Christian. Bizzarro.

9:23 PM
I have too much to do tomorrow. Too much to list even.

9:24 PM
Viagra kills. Or at least maims. Again.

9:27 PM
Christian's been too nice tonight. Now he's seducing Kimber again. No good can come from this.

9:29 PM
Obligatory butt shot. And BAM! The normal jerk Christian returns.

9:33 PM
I don't like the new chick on Law & Order: SVU.

9:44 PM
Tonight's episode of nip/tuck brought to you by the letters: E-T-H-I-C-S.

9:51 PM
Aww ferret love on nip/tuck. Is there a more pure love?

Mondays are for...

Monday, October 16, 2006

7:19 PM
We're currently under a tornado watch. In October. At least it's not a hurricane advisory. I guess.
Tonight's supper - tomato soup. On which I burnt my tongue. Again.

7:29 PM
I had the sudden urge to look through the SD phone book. While doing so I came across a name or two that I wanted to call. But didn't. Or couldn't. Still trying to figure out exactly why that is so.

7:39 PM
Two signs that The Class does not have long to live on CBS' Monday line-up:
  1. They've already replaced one of the 'main' characters with another actress.
  2. Sara Gilbert has joined the cast as a new character.

7:44 PM
Am I the only one that finds Ken Baker from US Magazine annoying?

7:48 PM
It's officially raining hard outside.

8:06 PM
Not to self - Try not to wake up in the middle of an autopsy, especially if it's my own.

8:24 PM
All heroes have a gimmick.

8:44 PM
Let's follow the Rain Man cliche with a shout out to the Montecito, the casino-resort from Las Vegas. (Heroes reference, if you're wondering.)

9:05 PM
Drinking water. Watching Studio 60. Contemplating cross-stitching some more.
Random Unwrapped moment - Which brand of candy boasts an asparagus shaped candy?

9:10 PM
I have officially become a pop culture junkie. Today's purchases include Thank You for Smoking (book) and Sex, Drugs & Cocoa Puffs (book). I am a glutton for all things (pop) cultural.

9:12 PM
Still kinda raining. Still under tornado watch.

9:18 PM
Tantric.
Word that comes to mind whenever I see Sting.

From "Son of a Witch":

"Not everyone is born a witch or a saint. Not everyone is born talented, or crooked, or blessed; some are born definite in no particular at all. We are a fountain of shimmering contradictions, most of us. Beautiful in concept, if we are lucky, but frequently tedious or regrettable as we flesh ourselves out." - p. 128
5 Things I Did this Weekend
  1. Re-watched Garden State. I  Zach Braff. And the music. And the dialogue. I just like that movie a whole bunch.
  2. Bought Prarie Home Companion on DVD. I hope to watch it tonight.
  3. Enjoyed the fact that Nebraska won again on the road. (I'm a little nervous about this weekend's game against Texas. It is at home. But it IS Texas. I'll start majorly freaking out on Thursday, I'm sure.)
  4. Vaccuumed the apartment very, very thoroughly.
  5. Opened the windows. It was a gorgeous weekend!

Recently discovered happiness(es)

These are a few of the things that make me . Enjoy the list!
  • Thank You for Smoking - With dialogue such as this, how can a movie be wrong?                                                                                                                                               Jeff Megall: Sony has a futuristic sci-fi movie they're looking to make.
    Nick Naylor: Cigarettes in space?
Jeff Megall: It's the final frontier, Nick.
Nick Naylor: But wouldn't they blow up in an all oxygen environment?
Jeff Megall: Probably. But it's an easy fix. One line of dialogue. 'Thank God we invented the... you know, whatever device.'
AND Nick Naylor: That's the beauty of argument, if you argue correctly, you're never wrong. (There's a log more, but I don't want to ruin the movie for you. Seriously, go out and rent/buy this movie now.)
  • Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - I have gushed about this show a lot in the past few weeks. And I probably will continue to gush over it. Last night's episode was thought provoking, funny and well acted. Can I honestly gush more? I think I'm in love. <Sigh>
  • Little Children - Book that I tried to read this summer while in SD. (I even had my parents check it out from a library for me!) I picked up yesterday at the bookstore (around 5:00 PM) and read it while waiting for the bus, riding the bus and waiting for Heroes and Studio 60 to start. I may burn in h-e-l-l for saying this, but I think I may like this book more than I liked Election. I am waiting for lightning to strike me where I sit. Waiting...
  • Chuck Klosterman - Even though he is from ND (a place that claims to be a 'state'), I really like his writing. I have read 2 of his 4 books in the past month and plan on reading the other 2 soon. This may be the second thing that I have liked from ND. The first being my cousin-in-law, of course.
  • Celery - I used to only like celery as a filler for salads and soups and with Mom's pork roasts, but I have recently discovered that I really enjoy celery as a snack. Usually with peanut butter or reduced fat cheese. There has to be something to give it some flavor, afterall.

Time to be productive. I guess.

Remember that Veronica Mars is on the new CW tonight (9EST/8CST).

I am subtle.

Veronica Mars Season 3 premiere highlights & personal observations:
  • Keith getting into trouble over Kendall. I saw it coming from a mile away, but it was still entertaining.
  • Wallace's roommate crushing on Veronica.
  • Wallace's roommate's relationship with Wallace. They seem to get along rather well for freshman roomies that don't know each other. I feel that this could end soon. Especially considering his opening remarks that he had specifically asked to not be placed with someone like Wallace. I feel a conflict over differences coming up.
  • Veronica & Logan together again. It won't last long, I fear. Veronica's freaking out too much about key cards and titles for it to last too long.
  • Dick getting kicked out of on-campus housing due to his drunkeness and behaviors. Very realistic. His interaction with the RA was too perfect.
  • New mix of We Used to Be Friends during the opening sequence was sweet.

Overall, the show was good. It did seem a little slow at times, but I think that was just due to the transition from Neptune High to college. Next week it should be getting better with Veronica going through sorority recruitment.

nip/tuck Highlights:

  • Rosie O'Donnell bringing white trashy back. She was way too perfect at that role.
  • Scientology = cult? Who knew?
  • Christian's sex scene with Dawn (Rosie) made me want to vomit.
  • I know that Season 4 is being brought to us by the letters A, S and S. But did we really need to see Rosie's behind?
  • Pay $500,000 for your girlfriend and then your girlfriend stops answering your calls. As Earl would say, karma's a bitch.
  • Be careful of who picks you up at a bar. It's most likely someone who will play Operation while you sleep.

MoSus and I enjoyed another rousing game of nip/tuck texting during last night's show. Although, I am still somewhat scarred by the thought of the daughter/stepfather rodeoshow, it was a good show.

Be cool, Soda Pop.

Yup.

Season Three of Veronica Mars starts tonight on the new CW. (9 PM Eastern/8 PM Central)

So, I thought I would share a few of my favorite VM quotes to celebrate today.

(Plus, I honestly couldn't think of anything else to share at the moment.)

Enjoy!
Keith: [seeing the game hens Veronica has cooked] You know, elf, we might not be the richest family in town, but we can afford normal-sized birds once a year or so.
Veronica: Game hens. They were just so cute. Plus, this way, we won't have to eat left-overs on New Year's.
Keith: That's smart thinking. Come on, what do they taste like?
Veronica: [laughing] I don't know. Dense little turkeys?
Veronica: [Veronica's Dad just came home] And...
Keith: [happy] Who's your Daddy?
Veronica: I hate it when you say that.
Keith: This is important, you remember this, I used to be cool.
Veronica: When?
Keith: '77. Trans-Am, Blue Oyster Cult in the 8-track, foxy, stacked blond riding shotgun, racing for pink slips. Wait a minute, I'm thinking of a Springsteen song. Scratch everything. I was never cool.
Veronica: I don't know which bothers me more, "foxy" or "stacked".

Van Clemmons: Mr. Echolls, I was wondering if I could have a word?
Logan: Anthropomorphic. All yours, big guy.
Weevil: Hey, you want a sody-pop?
Veronica: Actually, I think I want something with a little more kick.
[grabs Duncan's whiskey bottle and starts chugging it]
Veronica: Hmm, iced tea. How very musical theater of you.
Logan: I just can't take the begging. I'll relent, just once - but no cuddling after, and I won't call you in the morning.
Wallace Fennel: Thanks to you, I now have the reputation of being a jock-sniffer.
Logan: Hey, can Dick and Beaver come out to play?

Veronica: If I ever die, do me a favor. Go on Oprah and tell the world that I loved kittens.
