it's been awhle, huh?

 

Since returning to the Bayou from SD in July, my schedule has been filled non-stop with meetings, training sessions and paperwork. I am actually avoiding an angry looking pile of grey folders glowering at me from the left side of my desk while I type this. Darn folders and their need to feel needed. Alas, I will get back to them soon. <Sigh>

 

So, what's been going on in my life as of late? In this case, I do believe a list is in order...sorry.

 

Work - has been great, but all encompassing. The first 6 weeks of the fall semester has concluded. (Unsure of how that happened.) Meetings have been held. Trainings have been completed. Paper has been killed. All-in-all it's been a great 3(ish) months. New colleagues are awesome. Being able to interact with people again without boundaries is so....just nice. I just wish I had more energy once 4:30 PM hits on Friday. I seem to fall asleep before Dollhouse's opening sequence airs. Oh, well...tis Fall Break and I'm still standing.

 

Birthday - I totally turned a year older (about a month ago) without the added adventure of either hurricane or a LSU football game. Yup. I was able to leave my apartment on my birthday and enjoy a lovely supper with a couple of colleagues, followed by two days of shopping. Finally, a Labor Day weekend I could enjoy.

 

Family - All is going well with the SD folks. My sister seems to be adjusting well to living in her own apartment in town (Sioux Falls, for those not from eastern SD). The folks have enjoyed multiple weekend excursions to Minnesota, and were planning on heading to the Hills this weekend - unfortunately, the weather decided to go all Arctic on them - so they're at home for a few days...I think they're cleaning out another farm building today. I should expect another B&N box of memories from my mom soon, I guess.

 

Friends - Even though it's been a hectic few months, I have been able to get out and about to do a few things - mainly enjoy Louisiana cooking and shopping, but it's been good. It's also been a busy few months for engagements and babies with friends, along with anniversaries and birthdays. I apologize now if I've totally paused on sending cards, texts, emails...I just now remembered that it's my former boss' bday today...must facebook message him now.

 

Travel - Yup. I will be leaving BR for a few days next week to visit the land of potatoes - Idaho. I will be joining MoSus and other SDSU folks to celebrate the wedding of L. It should be good fun for all.

 

Well, I should probably start paying attention to the pile of folders on my desk. It would be wonderful to leave for the weekend with a clean desk. <Fingers crossed on that one>

 

Hopefully, I'll be able to be more up-to-date with my entries now that I seem to have time to breathe.
