Laziness Thy Name is Wednesday

Location: Fremont, Nebraska
Currently Listening to: eHarmony.com commercial
Currently Thinking about: How many of my friends are listed on eHarmony.com, Match.com and/or SwingersRUs.com?
Plans for the Remainder of the Day:
  • My sister is currently on her way from SD to Nebraska. She should be here within 2 hours.
  • After my sister picks me up, we are off to LeMars, Iowa, to hang out with my friend Thor and her new baby
  • Post LeMars, we will continue driving north on I-29 towards the family farm in SD
  • Laundry needs to be done...badly.
  • Hang out with the family, most likely a board game and an adult beverage will be involved.
  • Chill-ax
5 Quick Things:
  1. Even though I have access to almost every cable channel known to human kind while sitting here at Chris' house, I am still watching Arrested Development reruns on G4. Did I mention that I own all 3 seasons of Arrested Development on DVD?
  2. Two cats are currently in a state of hibernation on my lap while I type this entry on a lap-top.
  3. I will soon own my very first iPod. How 2001 of me.
  4. As many of you know, I am pure evil. Therefore, I am refusing to allow MoSus from guilting me into choosing HuHot as the supper destination for Friday. The choices are currently: Spezia, Famous Dave's, The Irish Place (can't remember the real name), Renner Monarch...
  5. I am honestly getting pretty good at multi-tasking.

Husker Coach Applicants Apply Below

Good afternoon from the lovely state of Nebraska.

It has been an interesting time to be back in the land of Big Red. On Friday, while watching one of the more painful football games played within the auspices of the Husker Nation, the debates began on how long Callahan had until the almighty Coach Tom would lay down the hammer on his short-lived (yet longly-despised) career in D-I Football in the lovely state of Nebraska. This question was quickly answered on Saturday, as all local television stations aired the live press conference held in the hallowed halls of Memorial Stadium where the almighty leader of all things holey within Nebraska laid down the hammer on the Callahan era.

The press conference was handled with class. T.O. is again hailed as the best thing ever to happen to the unicameral state. Hopes that the order will truly be restored have been renewed. All is well with the world of college football again. Hopefully this feeling will last a lot longer than 6 months this time around.

How has my trip been beyond the world of Husker football, you ask?

Here's a quick list:
  • Both of my planes were on time on Thursday.
  • Shane and I didn't get lost on our way from the Omaha airport to Fremont.
  • Ate way too much turkey at Shane's on Thursday.
  • Watched the Husker game on Friday. Cried a little. Swore a lot.
  • Enjoyed Enchanted on Friday with Shane.
  • Journeyed to Omaha, and found the wonderful road where two Super Targets exist within 2 miles of each other. (Thank goodness for Maple Street.)
  • Watched Knocked Up and Shrek the Third on (cheaply purchased thanks to Super Target #1) DVD.
  • Spent some time with Shane & Chris in Fremont learning the local ways of handling football gossip.
  • Rediscovered my love of HBO/Showtime On Demand at Chris' house.
  • I really like Californication.
  • Bonded with Chris' cats. (Which he is trying to gift to a loving family.)
  • Made plans to hang with the sister, the MoSus and the rest of the SD gang starting tomorrow. Open-mouthed
Well, I should get back to my busy day of watching television and playing Scrabble.

<Insert predictable title here>

Tis the day before Thanksgiving and all through the campus, not a creature is stirring not even a Kappes (family from my hometown)...

And that's the end of my creativity for the day.

It.has.been.a.very.very.very.very.very.long.day.

There are approximately 10 people on campus. I have completed every task on my list, played a lot of scrabble and eaten way too much. Yup. It is officially the holiday season.

As most people will be creating lists of what they are thankful for in regards to tomorrow's holiday, I decided to once again go with the flow and create my own topical list of thanksgiving.

Enjoy!
What I am thankful for (2007 edition)
  • Target - not only a great store, but also a great place to hang out.
  • Books - I Red heart reading! Shout out to the Jumpin' Husker Parents for instilling that habit in me at an early age.
  • Babies - It has been a year of babies for friends, family and colleagues. I am happy to report all of the babies in my life seem to be doing very, very well.
  • Text messaging - More of a guilty pleasure than a necessity, but still a god-send.
  • Fondue - It brings people together. Plus it's yummy. And melty.
  • Health - Definitely something to not overlook.
  • Procrastination tools - See yesterday's list to refresh your memory on why this is so.
  • Dirty minds - It's a common denominator in most of my friends.
  • Friends, Family and Ferrets - The 3 f's that keep me sane.

Randomness Thy Name is Tuesday

Honestly, I was so in the mood to finish another list or two from the January 9th list of lists. But, alas, none of the topics that remain unlisted seemed to be calling my name. Then again, the lists may have been using the more popular pronunciation of my name, and I just ignred them. As I typically ignore things that don't interest me. Wow. I'm a bit crabby today.

I blame the crabiness on the fact that it's the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, and time seems to be moving at the pace of a snail. Honestly, it's only 11:25?

On that note, i will instead provide you with a couple of Top 5 lists to wittle away a good 15-20 minutes of my work day.

Blame High Fidelity for my sudden interest in listing things in Top 5 order. FX has been playing the movie a lot as of late, and apparently I am destined to watch it every.single.time.it.airs.

Picking up where I dropped off

Remember my list of lists from January 9, 2007?

Yeah. I barely do either.

But, apparentally, my blog entries have 'bored' people to 'tears' as of late, so I have decided that maybe my life could use a little more spice.

In this case in the form of lists.

So without much adieu, here's another list to cross off the list of lists that I once created.

Friday Feats

What I Accomplished Over My 5-Day Work Week:

Monday

  • Coined a new phrase, "Update my MySpace page."
  • Cleaned the Jumpin' Husker Ferret cage.
  • Avoided nasty paper cuts while making copies at work.
  • Kept my temper.

Tuesday

  • Mocked the MoSus.
  • Enjoyed a Girls' Night out with the...girls. Wow, that was a redundant sentence.
  • Finished all of the fun stitches on my mother's holiday gift. Now, it's a back-stitching life for me.
  • Ate the lunch I brought to work on Monday.

Wednesday

  • Remembered why I love Pushing Daisies and Gossip Girl.
  • Brought my lunch, and ate it on the same day.
  • Got homesick. (I'll be home soon. Very, very soon.)

Thursday

  • Broke the fast and lunched with 2 of my favorite people from Johnston.
  • Shopped til I almost dropped with the girls. Yup, it's been a girl's week here in the big BR.
  • Discovered hot cocoa creme filled Hershey kisses. They are the devil. A very delicious version of the devil.

Friday

  • I love facebook scrabble. I suck at it. But I still love it. (Much like my love for all things Nebraska...it's something I just can't explain.)
  • Brought my lunch for a 3rd time. I RULE!
  • Mocked the MoSus some more.

  4. Today's Pandora Radio Channel: New Kids on the Block.
  5. Plan for next two weeks: Work in BR until Wednesday, November 21; Fly into Omaha on Thursday, November 22; Hang around Fremont until Tuesday/Wednesday, November 27 or 28; Head to SD on November 27 or 28; Fly back to BR on December 2. E-mails will be sent to those lucky folks that I wish to stalk while home soon.

What I Want for Christmas: Books

So, yeah, I've kinda sucked at blogging as of late.

I really don't have any good excuse for this fact, other than I live a rather boring life. I mean extremely boring. Which is a good thing, but not-so-much when you want to provide a daily account of your life for a blog. I mean, how many times can I blog about watching tv (Boo! On the Writers Guild Strike! I support their cause, just don't like reality tv at all.), cross-stitching (almost done with another project!), reading (The Tenderness of Wolves is a great book!) and walking (sucking at this too)?

Yet, I feel the need to share something about myself. Again, mostly in list form. I'm sorry if this is redonkulous (or redonk) for you, my readers. But, alas, it will have to suffice until I have something more exciting to report.
Books I'd Like to See in my Red & Green Stocking
  1. Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn
  2. Seeing Redd by Frank Beddor
  3. Darkly Dreaming Dexter; Dearly Devoted Dexter & Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay
  4. Peter & the Starcatchers; Peter & the Secret of Rundoon by Dave Barry, Ridley Pearson
  5. The Slippery Slope; The Grim Grotto; The Penultimate Peril & The End by Lemony Snicket
  6. Something Rotten & Thursday Next: First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde
  7. Bloodsucking Fiends; Coyote Blue; A Dirty Job; Fluke; Island of the Sequined Nuns & Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove by Christopher Moore
  8. The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold

Feast?

Appetizer
How much money do you plan to spend this upcoming holiday season?

Around $200, excluding travel costs. I am hoping to make a lot of my gifts again this year, which reminds me...I need to get to the Lobby de Hobby soon.

Soup
What was the last television show you watched, and was it good?

House on Tuesday night was the last tv show that I actually paid attention to for the duration of the hour. (Wednesday night, I was suckered into watching 100 Scariest Movie Moments on BRAVO again. I am a glutton. And last night, I was out on the town with my gals.) House is one of my favorite shows, so I always think it's brilliant television to watch. Tuesday's episode was not an exception.

Salad
If you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose?

Fatigue green, with white borders.

Main Course
Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet.

Should I honestly answer this before getting a patent?

Dessert
List 3 things you would like to receive as gifts this upcoming holiday season.

  1. iPod.
  2. My So-Called Life DVD set.
  3. Peace of mind.

5 Random Things
  1. Congrats to Thor's family on the addition of their daughter on Monday! I see a lot of Husker gear in her future. Wink
  2. I officially feel whelmed at the moment. But in a good way.
  3. I'm still at work because I'm waiting for my two cohorts to get done with meetings (or church) so that we may go and have a girls night out.
  4. I am sunburned. On November 1. From standing outside for 2 hours yesterday for a Halloween program. Can I get any more pathetic?
  5. All 3 seasons of Veronica Mars are now in my possession. Sad, but in a good way.
