My Accomplishments

During the week of February 25, I...

  • Wished my sister's signifiant other a "Happy Birthday!"
  • Discovered the happiness that is The Whitest Kids U'Know.
  • Freaked out about things happening in SD. (Things are better now.)
  • Texted MoSus about Ben Affleck.
  • Broke a fingernail. More than once.

I wish that...

  • I was able to teleport. Then I'd be able to be in SD on Thursday for a family affair.
  • I was a millionaire. Then I'd be able to pay off my debt and figure out what I really want to be in life.
  • I had more motivation. Then maybe I'd have the money to be able to teleport, because I'd be doing what I really want in life.
  • I had better letters in my current game of Scrabble with MoSus. Cuz she's won a lot as of late.
  • I had not gotten that extra shot of espresso in my coffee this morning. I'm vibrating in my seat. And not in a good way.
  • I had just said no to the Mile Hgh Nachos at Champps last night. Heartburn city.
  • I was a little bit taller. That I was a baller. Yup. I went there. I really want to be an old school rapper.
  • I had an idea of what book I want to read next. I have been unable to convince myself to start reading About a Boy...maybe I need to visit the bookstore this afternoon for some inspiration? (Wow. I am my own enabler.)
  • I was at the Drunken Fish. As I am totally craving sushi today.
  • I was on Spring Break. I just need a break from the paperwork.
  • I had brought Emma to work today. I really need to show my ipod some more love.
  • That it was 4:30 PM already. I Red heart Happy Hour!

Well, on that note, I should get back to business. I guess...

The Week in Reviw

What I accomplished over the past 7 days:

  1. Read 4 books. All of them very good in their own very, very different ways.
  2. Shaved my legs.
  3. Created letters, made copies, made folders. Repeated this task. A lot.
  4. Brought my lunch 4 out of 5 days to work. (Actually brought it today too, but I needed a break from campus...thus a trip to Zoe's.)
  5. Avoided watching reality television.

Things I'd rather be doing: A List

  1. Watching a No Reservations or Law & Order: SVU marathon.
  2. Reading The Reluctant Fundalmentalist.
  3. Cross-stitching.
  4. Gossipping with my sister, MoSus or co-workers.
  5. Bathing the Jumpin' Husker Ferrets.
  6. Reorganizing my bedroom closet.
  7. Making a pot of turkey chili.
  8. Dissecting a frog.
  9. Cutting coupons.
  10. Alphabetizing my books. (I really need to buy a new bookshelf, it's getting redonkulous in my apartment.)
  11. Watching Across the Universe.
  12. Shopping.
  13. Cleaning my kitchen.

Yup. I'm not really in the 'be at work' mood today. It may due to the fact that it has been a rather busy week. But I blame the rain. (Am I the only one who started humming Milli Vanilli?) So, instead of whining about my inability to call in sick today, here's the list of things that I will be doing today:

  • Copying.
  • Filing.
  • Repeat.
  • Playing Scrabble.
  • Mentally making a list of chores to do at home.
  • Dodging puddles.
  • IMing.
  • Making the monthly WalMart/Office Depot shopping list for work.
  • Copying.
  • Filing.
  • Repeat.

Current Mood: Tepid...I guess that's more a temperature, but when I asked myself "Self, how do you currently feel?" that was the answer.

Trying to avoid a guilt trip

Please accept my most sincere apologies regarding my lack of blogging as of late.

The reason for this oversight is quite simple: I've been busy.

For those of you that are employed by institutions of higher education, I need no further explanation. The month of February, while short in the number of days, seems to be the longest month of the spring semester. If I had more time on my hands, I bet there is some grant money out there that I could apply for and use towards the study of why all things go to hell in February. But, as previously noted, I don't have the time to blog, nevertheless write a grant, receive a grant and conduct research.

For those of you not employed in higher education, here's the brief explanation of why I've been busy: Behavior happens. A lot. During the 28 (this year 29) days of February. While I have the data to remind of this fact, every year I forget. (Kinda like how Iowa drivers forget how to drive during the first snow fall of every month.) And it catches me by surprise every single year.

Why am I blogging about the reason that I haven't been blogging in such detail? (I'm sure I heard MoSus' eyes roll as she read the first few paragraphs of this entry.) Well, the answer is I have a glorious 45 minute break until the next 'stay on campus late due to the fact that you're a masochist' event. So, I figured that I didn't want to deal with another day of 'whining' (can one really whine over IM?) about how I have kept my book list up-to-date (hit 10 books yesterday!), but haven't blogged since Friday.

Plus, the fact that I have (knock on wood) caught up on filing for the moment. (Trust me, there's a whole new pile ready to be made into yellow folders tomorrow, but they're not talking to me...yet.)

So, what have I done since we last corresponded:

  • Enjoyed a girls' night out with Jules & Moe on Friday. (Kohls, Target & Texas Roadhouse. Does it get any better?)
  • Watched Waitress on Saturday. (Very good movie.)
  • Finished reading The Art of Detection on Sunday. (Decent book.)
  • Laughed out loud at The History of the Joke that aired on The History Channel on Monday. (Lewis Black RULES!)
  • Was disturbed by the season finale of nip/tuck on Tuesday. (Seriously?)
Well, I should get back to playing Scrabble. Til later.

This week I...

  • Congratulated my sister on her recent promotion at work.
  • Fell asleep in front of the tv. Every night thus far.
  • Took 3 people out to lunch (2 for belated bdays, 1 for watching the kids last week).
  • Processed a lot of information.
  • Endured Valentine's Day.
  • Filled my fridge and pantry with lovely food...only to 'forget' to bring my lunch today. Sad
  • Missed the beach.
  • Avoided commitment.

Honestly...I used to be fun

I have been sitting at my computer for about 30 minutes trying to figure out what to share with my reader(s) via today's blog entry.

Just sitting here.

Trying

so

hard

to

figure out something...anything to share with folks.

But as usual, I cannot think of something even semi-interesting to write about.

Why? Because here is my routine as of the last few days:

5:30 AM-ish - Alarm sounds
5:45 AM-ish - Roll out of bed, onto couch/recliner to watch either Jimmy Neutron or Mike & Mike in the Morning
6:30 AM-ish - Decide to get ready for the day
7:20 AM-ish - Meander towards the bus stop
7:45 AM-ish - Arrive on campus
8:00 AM to Noon - Check e-mail, visit Starbucks, play Scrabble, Superpoke, pet fluffpets, make copies, file, answer e-mail, plan lunch...
Noon to 1:30 PM - Lunch
1:30 PM to 4:30 PM - Attend meetings, check e-mail, make copies, play Scrabble, file, answer e-mail, plan supper...
4:30 PM-ish - Walk towards the bus stop
5:00 PM-ish - Arrive home
5:30 PM to ??? - Clean the Jumpin' Husker Ferret cage, make supper, text people, watch E!News and Family Guy, contemplate reading or cross-stitching, fall asleep in my recliner

Yup. I am that pathetic. At least I'm consistent?

Well, I should get back to filing.

Random Listings

Here are a few things that I figured that I should share about the past week. In bullets. I Red heart lists!

  • I made it to and from Florida without too many problems. (Although, my final flight from Houston to Baton Rouge took a lot longer than originally planned due to a few maintenance problems...nothing too major, just annoying.)
  • I still sunburn easily.
  • Blueberry flavored vodka + Sprite = happiness.
  • Finished reading The Devil Wears Prada. Not sure if I like the movie or the book more. Both are very good.
  • Paperwork sucks no matter which time zone you're in.
  • Kaplan & Lee are actual people. Not just a random law firm that authored the law books for grad schools around the country.
  • Nebraska beat Texas Tech in college basketball.
  • My ability to stay up for 24-plus hours is not as good as it once was.
  • I Red heart grouper!

Weekends are for...

  • Catching up on sleep. (So that I didn't catch the cold that was trying to catch me.)
  • Being disappointed in the number of coupons in Sunday's paper. (Like 4 total. What's up with that?)
  • Watching Scream 3.
  • Finishing Book 2 of the His Dark Materials  trilogy. (I'm so going to hell someday.)
  • Mocking MoSus on the phone.
  • Thinking of comments to leave on my friends' MySpace and facebook pages about the Super Bowl. Yup. They're from Boston.
  • Cleaning the Jumpin' Husker Apartment.
  • Avoiding all Britney Spears gossip/coverage on the television.
  • Yearning for beads. (Didn't make it to a parade this year. Confused)
  • Prepping for my upcoming tip to Florida. (I leave tomorrow, so I may or may not be posting the rest of the week. Although I do have a laptop, so I just may have time to leave my mark at night.)
