Highs & Lows

2009 has proven to be an interesting year for Me. While things are going okay for me personally and professionally, it seems to be kind of a downer year for most of my friends and family. Add to that the doom and gloom of the local newscasts and it's no wonder that I surround myself with the E!! Channel and Agatha Christie books.

As such, I have decided that today's blog post will list 5 highs and 5 lows of the year thus far. Be assured, these are meant to bring a smile to some people's faces. Nothing is too serious. Cuz life is just way too serious at the moment.

Highs
  1. Drinking a pitcher of mojitos on Tampa Bay.
  2. Dollhouse. I Red heart Joss Whedon.
  3. Agatha Christie books. Apparently I should have been reading them all along.
  4. Crawfish. I have become a big fan of this 'bug' or 'fish bait.' One can usually find me at Heads'n'Tails on Friday nights enjoying a 3-pound platter of these yummy little critters.
  5. Buying DVDs at Wal-Mart and having the clerk do a double-take at your choice of movies. Example: Buying Twilight, Madagascar 2 and Zach & Miri Make a Porno at the same time. Priceless.
Lows
  1. Cell phones that pick and choose when they will work. Grrrr....
  2. Misleading text/AIM messages.
  3. Piles and/or puddles of pollen. Tis the season to be sneezy....falalalala...
  4. On again/off again travel plans. Darn economy and stuff.
  5. Waking up with one's alarm. Just plain overrated.

Have a great Wednesday! I plan on being more on the ball with my blogging. For serious this time. Pinky swear.

Yup. Another list.

As I have been nothing even close to interesting this week. Here's a quick rundown of my life currently:

  1. Spent 1.25 days away from work this week. Due to just not feeling well. Kind of an anti-other-people kinda week.
  2. I truly enjoy the fact that my office is located in a remote location. Keeps me away from the drama. Which is a good thing.
  3. I'm really craving crawfish today.
  4. I've read a lot this week. About a book per day. YAY! (TV has kinda sucked this week.)
  5. Plan on hanging out with Rosemary this weekend and acquiring a new chair. Which is *almost* exciting.

Well, off to finish a project, then begin another one. And stuff.

I heart book sales

I truly enjoyed spending my money at the LSU Book Bazaar last Friday. It's an annual event where all proceeds go towards increasing the LSU Library collection. So, it both feeds my desire for all things books, along with assisting with the addition of more books to borrow. We're all winners!

This year's haul included the following:

The Mirror Crack'd by Agatha Christie
Halloween Party by Agatha Christie
Peril at End House by Agatha Christie
Towards Zero by Agatha Christie
A Caribbean Mystery by Agatha Christie
(see a pattern yet)
The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie
Sparkling Cyanide by Agatha Christie
Passenger to Frankfort by Agatha Christie
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
(seriously, I think I may need some help)
New Orleans Mourning by Julie Smith
Murder on the Menu by Miranda Bliss
The Namesake by Jumpa Lahiri
(finally, a non-mystery)
Moment of Truth by Lisa Scottoline
(spoke too soon)
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Louisiana Power & Light by John Dufresne
Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella
Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella
Candy Cane Murder by Joanne Fluke, Laura Levine & Leslie Meier

For some reason, I seem to be on a mystery/Agatha Christie kick this year.

Which is a nice change of pace...I guess.

5 Quick Things

I know, I know...I promised to not do this type of blogging anymore. But, the past few weeks have been hectic, and as such, the only way I'm going to be able to blog will be through quick lists. Hopefully, only for the time being.

  1. I really wish that I understood the true meaning of dreams. And what those dreams truly mean to others. Or why people feel the need to share odd dreams that they have about you. Dreams confuse me.
  2. Vacation planning has begun for the Girls Road Trip 2009. It looks like we'll be making Madison, WI, the homebase and seeing all that can be seen in the surrounding area. If you will be in that area around July 4, let me know. We may use your knowledge to our favor.
  3. Everyone I know is currently in the process of cleaning out files, apartments and houses. Must either be that time of year or something in the air. Yay for decluttering?
  4. I spend way too much time discussing the weather. I think it may be part of the aging process that our parents didn't tell us about. Example: I knew the projected highs and lows for this entire week, and shared that information with a student who couldn't care less. Yes. I have become one of 'those' kind of adults.
  5. Floyd passed away last week after a long battle with health-related issues. Floyd was one of the Jumpin' Husker Ferrets. Only Ivan remains.
