5 Quick Things

  1. I ended up having a 3-day weekend due to the fact that (a) I had a headache on Friday and (b) I did not want to put on pants on Friday.
  2. I have only 4 more episodes of Season 1 of Psych to watch. I really do enjoy that show.
  3. Cross-stitching bonanza 2008 began this weekend. I may finish Project #2 by next week. (After taking 4 months on my last project, that's not too shabby.)
  4. I've let work get to me again. Need to find a method of destressing. Walking-palooza to start soon. I'll keep you posted.
  5. Finally mailed a package to my mom today (last two cross-stitching projects) and to my newest cousin (slightly belated 1st birthday gift) today!

<I promise to get back to 'normal' blogging soon.>

Overwhelmed

  • Why must all of the television shows I enjoy be on at the same exact time? (How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl, Bones) Honestly, I almost need TiVo or a DVR just for Monday nights.
  • Hi, my name is Me and I watch Greek and One Tree Hill. Not religiously, but enough to know what's going on.
  • The piles of paper in my office have begun to multiply.
  • The price of gasoline is giving me gas.
  • I need to find a sugar daddy with a private plane...mainly due to the fact that it costs a lot to fly home these days.

About a Girl

As it has been awhle since I've shared personal information about a girl (Me), I figured it was time again to do so...in list form, of course:

  1. When I was younger, I wanted to be either a nurse OR a truck driver.
  2. I am deathly afraid of heights.
  3. I have very little control over my balance. I blame this on the fact that I never learned to ride a bike or rollerskate.
  4. In sixth grade, I won a poetry contest about the SD Centennial celebration. It's pretty cheesy.
  5. For Halloween as a child I was usually one of the following characters: Strawberry Shortcake, Clown or Punk Rocker.
  6. I've worn glasses since the fifth grade.
  7. My sister and I used to have a bottle-calf named Maynard. He was named after my mom. Maynard was her nickname as a youngster.
  8. I used to ride the family dog around as a horse as a child. He was a St. Bernard. And huge.
  9. One of my most embarassing moments as a child involves selling poppies, Kool Aid and an alley. (I'm pretty sure my cousins or sister would gladly share that story with most anyone.)
  10. I dislike public speaking.

Flashback to the List of Lists 2007

On January 9, 2007, I made a list of 50 list topics that I had planned on completing in 2007.

I started off well, but alas I didn't come close to finishing the list of lists. Thus, I will try to complete the list of lists from 2007 in 2008. Better late than never, right?

Happy Tax Day!

The lines at the on-campus Post Office are redonk.

On a brighter note...

  • I had a glorious time at the Strawberry Festival over the weekend.
  • I only got semi-sunburned while at said festival.
  • I ate boiled crawfish for a 3rd time. Yesterday. And didn't get that messy.
  • I have been chosen to complete a leadership class on campus. In June. My summer just got a bit busier again.
  • I helped celebrate the first birthday of my cousin and the 27th+ birthday of MoSus from afar on Saturday.
  • I have toes.

Randomly Seeking Susan

Books - It only makes sense that as an avid viewer of The Cartoon Network and obsesser of the Muppets that I become a lover of Young Adult Fiction. I have finished the Harry Potter and His Dark Materials series. Have read all but 4 of the Lemony Snicket Books. Am anxiously awaiting the next book in the Twilight and Looking Glass Wars series. And am currently halfway through Fly by Night. And I am 30 years old. Honestly, I read more Anne Rice, Stephen King and Harlequin novels in my early teen years than I do now. I guess there is some truth behind the old development saying, "When one stresses, one regresses."

Movies - As noted earlier this week (in my only blog entry of the week), I finally watched Bee Movie and Dan in Real Life over the weekend. Bee Movie was okay, and had a great message...it just kinda bored me. Not sure why. And I'm sure that it could just be a fluke. But yawn. Dan in Real Life on the other hand had me giggling and squirming and yearing and forgetting that it co-starred the monstrousity that is Dane Cook. It was just a nice chick flick from a guy's perspective.

Next up in my at home movie queue: No Country for Old Men. I think that I'll follow that up with The Departed. Might as well make it a full Oscar movies with blood weekend.

Movies I need to acquire from Target: Sweeny Todd, Juno, Lars & the Real Girl

TV - Thank goodness for the end of the writer's strike. 30 Rock had me giggling like a schoolgirl last night. As did The Office. Honestly could Jim and Pam be any more cute. And samantha who? wasn't too shabby on Monday either. Although I really think that Samantha should get a break with the ex. But then where would the chemistry go?

Weekend plans - This weekend I plan on attending the Strawberry Festival in a neighboring town with some co-workers. It's a fun festival. Plus there are endless strawberry related foods to enjoy: shortcake, beignets, funnel cake, chocolate dipped, beer, daiquiris...

Retail Therapy

I have been spending too much money as of late.

I would like to say that it is has been on the necessities of life.

But, alas, I am not sure I can define Seasons 7 & 8 of The Simpsons as true necessities.

I mean, I needed them to continue to round out my DVD collection. But did I need them in a Maslow kinda way. Not at all. Especially since the local CW  channel reruns 2 episodes of The Simpsons everyday. So, it's not like I would go through Homer withdrawl. It simply comes down to the fact that I have not successfully trained myself to just say no to retail therapy.

As I have mentioned a few times in my blog, I have been stressed as of late. While I still handle most of my stress by eating...Raising Cane's is way too close to campus to ignore...I still have a penchant to use my money to buy items that I could either put on a Wish List, borrow (from something called a lib-rar-y?) or wait until on sale.

Instead, I have a tendancy of buying things that will make me happy now: DVDs, books, shoes, chocolate, books...I am nothing if not predictable when it comes to my impulse buys. (I have managed to get out of the candles, picture frame, stuffed animals phase. I guess that means I'm maturing?)

Although, I do have to admit to the fact that I only purchase things that have been on my "I Really, Really Want" list or things that I have stalked until they have decreased in price. I just need to learn to just say no.

Nancy Reagan would be proud.

Being a fool in April

Things I should be working on:
  • Monthly report.
  • Timeline for updating manuals.
  • Creating a newsletter.
  • Filing.
  • Making letters.
  • Putting together goodie bags for my student leaders.
  • Updating a student worker job description.
  • Converting documents from publisher to word.
Things I am doing instead:
  • Blogging. (Obviously.)
  • Updating my (fluff)friends habitat.
  • Nagging at MoSus via AIM.
  • Daydreaming.
  • Making lists.
Reasoning behind my procrastination:
  • Yesterday was a long, long day.
  • According to the television, I may have ADHD.
  • Distracted by the fact that NBC has resurrected Kathie Lee Gifford's career.
  • I feel like it.

It's going to be a long month.
