  1. Attend LSUConngal's going away party

  4. Finish reading Labryinth - not a book based on the lovely 1980s movie, unfortunately

Weirdest moment from my high school reunion

Having a former friend apologize for everything s/he's done in the past 9 years...while trying to regain his/her balance due to ingesting a little too much Jesus juice.

Realization of the week

Eating Moe's for lunch = upset stomach at night. Maybe I should reconsider my standby lunch order...we shall see if I learn from this realization.

Number of hours until I can go home

Current Mood: Apathetic

Currently Listening to: Blue Orchid  by the White Stripes

Today's Goals: Find clarity. Avoid Moe's for lunch. Soak my feet.

Thirteen Thoughts on a Thursday

  1. Was anyone truly shocked that there is at least one gay boy band member? But it was the top story on all of the entertainment news shows last night, along with a few of the 'real' news shows on cable. Hmmm...
  2. I honestly wish that I could say the following statement without giggling: "The weather's not that bad, except for the humidity." (Humidity is a form of weather, I realize, yet I say this again and again...)
  3. Getting out of bed early enough to take a 20-minute shower is a wonderful feeling. Also a wonderful feeling - properly shaved legs.
  4. I really need a professional pedicure.
  5. What does one bring to a 'going away' party that's not adult beverage-ish in nature?
  6. Am I the only one who thinks that blue M&Ms kinda taste like the color blue?
  7. I am oddly drawn to the new Justin Timberlake (video & music), does that make me a 13-year-old girl?
  8. Becky is right. There really isn't much on television on Wednesday nights other than Project Runway.
  9. Now that I've convinced T that Indian food will be on the agenda this weekend, what should my next goal be?
  10. I've got toes.
  11. I miss Skinners. I miss it a lot. (Popcorn. Olives. Pool tables.)
  12. I haven't had iced tea at all this week. I wonder how long this will last?
  13. I need to regain the 'color' that I gained while away at summer camp. With the current thunderstorm a day regime, how am I possibly going to get burnt into pigment?

Current Mood: In-need-of-caffeine

Currently Listening to: Float On by Modest Mouse

Today's Goals: Vacuum, for real. Play with the Jumpin' Husker Ferrets. Avoid the urge to go to Starbucks for an iced tea until at least 10:00 AM. Calendar.

5 Fast facts about my week thus far

  1. I watch way too much of the SciFi network on Mondays and Tuesdays due to Dark Angel, Dead Like Me and Eureka.
  2. Cereal is an acceptable night-time meal.
  3. The Jumpin' Husker Ferrets really do not like raisins in their treats. They will literally throw them over the edge of their cage to the floor. It's fun to watch, but kind of scary...they seem to know what they are doing.
  4. Although I was thrown a curveball yesterday at work, I believe that I have overcome this obstacle...and created at least 5 more obstacles.
  5. I still have not seen Clerks 2 or have purchased Pinky & the Brain or Animaniacs. This makes me ...okay not really, but it is really sad.

Well, I'm off to a full day of training for my professional development.

Current Mood: Awake

Currently Listening to: The Adventure by Angels and Airwaves

Today's Goals: Play with the Jumpin' Husker Ferrets. Celebrate the fact that it's Wednesday. Count my blessings.

  • Wanted to break dress code on a day when you will be with the entire department?
  • Considered taking a pay cut just to be happy?
  • Pondered inviting a bunch of people to go out for supper just to see someone smile again?

  • Craved Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia?
  • Wondered if Paris Hilton's CD will do better than K-Fed's?
  • Wanted to taste Mt Dew after 5 years just to see if it makes you gag?
  • Made a random list of questions to procrastinate?

Current Mood: Bouncy

Currently Listening to: Middle of Nowhere by Hot Hot Heat

Today's Goals: Vacuum my apartment (I really mean it today). Convince T that she wants Indian food soon. Create a handout for a training tomorrow. Overcome my fear of rejection.

p.s. I've added a new album to the photo part of this page thanks to the lovely Lynae. I hope to have more pictures from the Tour de Midwest to share soon.

p.p.s. You really should check out Eureka tonight...or one of the many, many times it's on rerun this upcoming week.

Stuff About Me...

Since my work e-mail and server are not agreeing with me, I have decided to share more information about me with everyone via an e-mail forward from T:

RETURN  DIRECTIONS:  Here's what  you're supposed to do after reading my answers.  It is fun!   Cut & Paste, delete my answers and type in your answers.  Then send this to a whole  bunch of people you know INCLUDING the person who sent it to you.

The theory is that you will  learn a lot of little known facts about those who know you.  Remember to send it back to  the person who sent it to you.

A.   Four jobs I have had in  my life:
    1.   Cashier at a regional airport's gift shop
    2.   Cashier at a restaurant/grocery store
    3.   Basically every student job known within the SDSU Union

B.  Four movies I could / would watch over and over:
    1.   Heathers

Scarily True: My Usual Breakfast of (non)Champions

Source

Actually my breakfast of (non)champions for today consisted of:

  • GNC Multi-Vitamin for Women
  • GNC Coral Calcium tablet
  • Ibuprofen tablet (headache)
  • Water
  • McDonalds #3 w/a large Sprite (bacon, egg & cheese biscuit)

Since I am sans-food at mi casa at the moment, I was pretty hungry this mornign. That's my reasoning. Once I get groceries (hopefully a WalMart run tonight), I should be back in the semi-healthy lifestyle to which I have become acquainted.

On a healthier note - I am feeling a lot better today. It could be due to the fact that I crashed early last night and actually slept the entire night through OR it could be due to the fact that I may be semi-social today (lunch with Anita, supper w/T) that has my body going "YEAH!"

Plans for this weekend include the following:

  • Convincing people that they want to see Clerks II with me. (I honestly just want to see Jay & Silent Bob dance again...they make me laugh.)
  • Cleaning the Jumpin Husker Ferret cage (and their owners apartment).
  • Boxing up the annual donations of clothes for the Goodwill.
  • Finishing a book or two.
  • Starting a Christmas present or two.
  • Walking...I really need to start doing this.
  • Updating the resume. (One never knows when that may be helpful.)
  • Getting healthy.

Well, I should be getting to work.

Current Mood: Healthy, happy & wise (no comment MoSus)

  3. All These Things That I've Done - The Killers
  4. The World at Large - Modest Mouse
  5. The Adventure - Angels & Airwaves

Bring on the pre-lunch quizzes

You are Captain Malcolm Reynolds, aka. Mal or Captain Tightpants. You saw most of your men die in a war you lost and now you seek solitude with a small crew that you are fiercely devoted to. You have no problems being naked.

~Congrats! You're George Michael!~

Timid, hard working...but that's okay, becuase everyone loves you.

Still waiting to go to lunch...
(I just liked this picture from Veronica Mars...)

Delayed Illness

I believe that my immune system can avoid an illness for around 2 weeks.

My reasoning? I was up all Tuesday night with stomach yuckiness. It seemed very similar to the yuckiness my sister was fighting off on the 4th of July. Hmmm...

The good news: I'm feeling a little better today. I'm at work. Which is a very, very, very good thing.

I have found it somewhat strange that I had not caught any of the yuckiness I was around on my 3-week tour until now. Chris had a sinus yuckiness. My sister had a tummy yuckiness. I was stressed. All of the yuckinesses seemed to align perfectly...oh well, I'm not going to overthink this...at least not through this medium...

Random Thoughts One Has During a Day Away from Work
  • Why does COX Cable choose the DIY Network for its free digital preview channel on the day when I want Toon Disney?
  • Is 7-UP better for an upset stomach than Sprite?
  • Why didn't I bring a 12-pack of Squirt home with me?
  • Why does a quasi-smutty book make me feel better?
  • Why are the ferrets running in circles chasing their own tails when they could be chasing each other?
  • When is Tropical Storm Chris going to happen so that Human Chris will stop talking smack about it? (I'm sorry, Human Chris talks about Hurricane Chris, not Tropical Storm Chris.)
  • What do I really need for groceries?
  • When will food seem like a good thing again? (My appetite is pretty non-existant at the moment.)
  • How come I knew more of the answers on Jeopardy! than the champion did?
  • Why is there another Jimmy/Timmy Hour on Nick?
  • Should I shower?

Decisions...and some thoughts

"All our final decisions are made in a state of mind that is not going to last."
- Marcel Proust

The truth of that quote cuts through my soul. I have made many 'final' decisions in my life. Career. Long-distance plan. Hair length. Friends. The list goes on and on, yet I still have not managed to keep one of those decisions 'final.'

As you can probably tell, I am in the middle of making a few more decisions about my life. Career. Long-distance plan. Hair lenth. Friends. This list is even longer than any of my previous lists. I am in the process of deciding what changes I need to make to my life in order to make me happy. Not one simple decision comes to mind with that tall order. I will keep you updated.

I once again managed to fall asleep by 9:30 PM yesterday. And this was after drinking a Super Grande Mochasippi from CCs. I must really be in need of sleep.

I began reading the book that I purchased for 50-cents at a rummage sale on Saturday, Sushi for Beginners. I have a feeling that it's going to be a very interesting, smutty read. Perfect for the summer.

I need to go outside and try to regain my 'color' again. It was nice being noticed for not being almost albino for the first time in my life.

I got my hair cut yesterday.

Monday Morning Ramblings

My weekend consisted of the following:
  • Cleaning out the fridge.
  • Vacuuming.
  • Re-acquainting myself with the Jumpin' Husker Ferrets.
  • Rummaging the sales with Becky. (I found a cute S'mores character tree, a book and a McD's glass.)
  • Finishing two books (All Families are Psychotic and I Am the Messenger). I highly suggest both of them.
  • Checking on the health of the unwell (Chris, sister, T, Mom...the list keeps on growing).
  • Sleeping.
  • Laundry.
  • Scrubbing the bathtub.
  • More sleeping.

All-in-all, I had a delightfully boring weekend. I needed it. As my mom said on the phone yesterday, we're all so tired from the emotional roller coaster of the past few months, our bodies are just starting to shut down on us either through an illness or through boring-ness. I am glad that my body chose the boring-ness route.

I must admit, it was delightful to do little to nothing over the weekend. I did enjoy hitting the rummage sales with Becky again. It's fun to watch someone with a mission find things. Typically we just go to see what we can find, but from now on I have a feeling there will be a goal. A very, very good goal at that.

The one thing that I realized over the weekend is that I need to figure out a way to stay awake past 9:30 PM. I may need to start drinking the caffeine again or poking myself with a pin. But this falling asleep waaay too early and waking up even earlier than my alarm thing needs to stop. Or I just need to start working out in the morning. We shall see which option wins out in the end. I have a feeling that I already know that answer.

Well, I should get to starting my work week. It is very surreal that I have been back for over a week now. Hopefully, I will start getting back into the grind of things again....soon.

Life as I Know It

This past week has been surreal. I really did not think coming back to work after almost a month of family vacation type activities would be so strange.

It has literally taken me all week to get back into the swing of work again. Answering e-mails. Returning voicemails. Sending letters. Updating databases. Filing. Attending meetings. Calendaring. Scheduling meetings. The list is endless.

Alas, I have become another drone in the world of work again. I catch the bus at 7:00 AM. Walk across campus. Debate if I want a coffee from Starbucks or a biscuit from McDs. Update my blog. Check my e-mail and voicemail. Create a checklist for the day. Work. Eat lunch. Work some more. Check things off of my check-list. Decide what I want for supper. Catch the bus. Return home. Rather. Rinse. Repeat.

Don't get me wrong. I am a strong ISTJ, so I love continuity. I loathe change. It's just a little strange to me that it took less than 7 days for me to find my groove again after a month of sleeping in and doing what I want. I guess I was meant to be a 9-5er afterall.

Otherwise, my life has been pretty blah this week. I've been busy cleaning the apartment, reacquainting myself with the Jumpin' Husker Ferrets and watching cable tv. I still cannot stay awake past 10:30 PM for the life of me, but that's okay.

There was some excitement last night when the electricity went out for a few minutes during a thunderstorm. The only reason I knew this was the blinking clocks this morning and the fact that my cordless phone rings when it is reconnected with electricity.

Man. I'm boring. I will hopefully work on being more exciting soon. Now I'm debating with myself over the merits of a McDs breakfast vs a cup of coffee.

Off to find the wizard. More later.

Current Mood: Friday-ish. Feel like I should be accomplishing more than I am because it's almost the weekend.

Currently Listening to: Wasteland by 10 Years

Today's Goals: Get a life. Read. Exercise. Take Becky to lunch.
